TLS Certificate

Although SSL (Secure Socket Layer) and TLS (Transport Layer Security) are different most Certificate authorities sort of bundle them together as one thing.  You will often see an SSL certificate described as SSL 3.0 / TLS 1.0 Most browsers can recognize TLS 1.0 but later versions of TLS are not recognized very well on many browsers.  SSL preceded TLS and TLS is basically the new improved version of SSL.  When you get a certificate from a certificate authority (CA) it is likely to use TLS.
